Acer has added two new products to its Chromebook lineup, the Acer Chromebook Spin 512 and Acer Chromebook 512, both of which are ruggedly built for students. The new laptops comply with MIL-STD 810G military standards for durability and also feature a shock-absorbing construction. The company has also launched the robust TravelMate B114-21 notebook that uses Windows 10 S and meets the same manufacturing quality standards as the two new Chromebooks launched by Acer.
The Acer Chromebook Spin 512 is a convertible Chromebook that can be used in several modes, such as traditional laptop mode, tent mode and tablet mode, thanks to a 360-degree hinge. The Chromebook Spin 512 features a rugged MIL-STD 810G compliant military enclosure and ASTM F963-16 and UL / IED 60950-1 safety standards. The Acer TravelMate B114-21 can be configured with a 7th Generation AMD A6-9220C APU paired with a Radeon R5 graphics card, with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB NVMeSSD PCIe storage double track.
Acer would also offer low-power versions of the device also powered by an AMD A4-9120 APU and up to 64 GB of eMMC flash memory. The new Acer notebook comes with a 14-inch (1920 x 1080) Full HD display with a 180-degree rotating hinge. The port selection is covered by an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.1 port, an SD card reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an RJ-45 Ethernet port, while the 802.11ac Wi-Fi manages wireless connectivity. The Acer TravelMate B114-21 starts at $ 319 (about Rs 22,700) and will be available sometime in the second quarter of 2019; however, availability will vary by region.
