The best science fiction books of 2017
If the quality of the science fiction books released in 2017 is all that happens, then the genre is alive and kicking. We have seen many science fiction books that publish this year, some well-known authors and other relatively new ones. Certainly, we do not pretend to have read all the science fiction books they published in 2017, but we read a few examples, and we have compiled this list based on our own and best comments.
1. Artemis of Andy Weir
Andy Weir's artemis is not as good as The Martian, but it's still a very pleasant reading. We loved the science-pieces of this movie that takes place in the near future where humans have created a city on the Moon. In Artemis, the characters are not very strong, but the world is quite fascinating. Read this for configuration and the history of pacy, but not for character development.
Purchase: Artemisa
2. Persepolis increasing by James S. A. Corey
Purchase: Persepolis Rising
3. Binti Home by Nnedi Okrafor
If the reading of long books is not for you, the series of Binti will definitely be attractive. Binti and Binti Home are two novels, which means that you can finish them much more quickly. With a star in Africa who is a brilliant mathematician, Binti Home explains the story of his return to Earth. The story takes a rather dark turn in this book and we definitely enjoyed it without regard to it.
Purchase: Binti Home
4. Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi
Purchase: collapse the empire
5. Sylvian Neuvel's Waking Gods
This is the second book of Themis Files series, with The Sleeping Giants as the first. We love the science fiction books that have detailed world construction and the plot of this series revolves around a giant metallic hand that the protagonist discovers accidentally. Advanced alien technology, giant fighting machines, and a team of humans struggling to save the species from extinction, this is enough for a recommendation, in our humble opinion.
Buy: Waking Gods
6. Seven regatas and The Will of the Battle of Ada Palmer
It is often not possible that you get two books of a trilogy the same year, but in 2017 this year. Ada Palmer's highly-loved book Too Like the Lightning achieved two sequels to complete the Earth Ignota trilogy in 2017. The environment is quite intriguing as it speaks of how factions called The Hives have managed to keep centuries of peace on earth These two books show the collapse of this society and reveal the dark secrets of The Hives, and both are worth reading.
Purchase: Seven Surrenders, The Will to Battle
7. Origin of Ann Leckie
First we read the work of Ann Leckie when we picked up the Imperial Radch trilogy (Auxiliary Justice, Auxiliary Sword and Auxiliary Mercy). His 2017 novel is definitely worth reading if he liked his style of writing in the aforementioned trilogy. The origin is the story of a young woman who wants to recover the lost artifacts, but the thief who steals them must be rescued from a prison planet.
Purchase: origin
8. Because we are many and all these worlds for Dennis E. Taylor
Here is another series with two books released the same year. We do not say 2017 was this type of year. Bobens from Dennis E. Taylor got two new books: For We Are Many and All These Worlds. It all started with We Are Legion, where Bob Johansson was waiting for a dream life after selling his software company, but he died an accident and, a century later, he finds himself as an IA controller in an interstellar sounding in search of inhabitable worlds. The next two books expanded the series very well in reference to the struggle of humanity for the survival of the galaxy.
Buy: because we are many, all these worlds
