Four More Shooting Please, it's cool on the Streets, a mess on the Leaves

The first series of original Amazon scripted comedy from India - Four More Shots Please!, Now in Prime Video globally, deals with the lives of so many ancient women as there are tequila drinks in the title. For some, this may seem reminiscent of the dramatic comedy Girls by Lena Dunham, although most of these take here the inclination towards the second half of the 1920s and early thirties, with age differences that span almost a decade between the quartet . Four More Throws Please! It is also much more glamorous: everyone lives in the distant southern Mumbai neighborhood, as opposed to the famous Brooklyn show, Dunham New York, which makes it more similar to the spiritual predecessor of Girls, Sex and the City. Of course, its nearest equivalent is the wedding of Veere Di, who also concentrated on four glamorous women.

Unfortunately for Amazon, that's not the only likeness between Four More Shots Please! and Veere Di Wedding. In addition to the obvious and superficial comparison of how both are possibly guilty, with ever-changing clothes for the four protagonists, the new Amazon series, created by Rangita Pritish Nandy (Pyaar Ke Side Effects), with a script by Devika Bhagat (Jab Tak Hay Jaan) and Ishita Moitra (Half Girlfriend) - also usually is as superficial as the movie. The pre-listed mentality of Four More Shots Please! It is evident by the series "unquestionable acceptance of how much pure alcohol can fall, with a recognition of its disastrous effect on human bodies, let alone a conscious joke.

Well worth it, Four More Shots Please! It is taking some powerful and powerful ideas in your bottle, including body positivity, bisexuality, online abuse and single motherhood, which are still rarely represented on the big screen in India. But just having good ideas is not enough. The film is executed enough to justify interest and Four More Shots Please! the blow repeatedly fails above the desired level. It simply does not have the necessary nuances from the writing, the direction (Anu Menon de Waiting), or the edition (Antara Lahiri point of Bombay). For all the freshness behind the scene, besides being a story about four women, it was performed by a crew (in large part), the whole female: the output is as routine as they come.

Worse still, Four More Shots Please! Do not trust the audience to be smart enough and pick up important moments, so every great event instantly accompanies a background song or sound effect. The scenes that should be intimate are created, filmed as if everything were meant to be a video clip betraying inexperience in the direction. And in almost all cases, the new Amazon series opts for the melodrama for a better alternative: authenticity, absurdity or relatability, which suggests that scripts could have another look. You could do it well to learn from Girls or from several other modern comedy shows, whether it's the caustic sagacity of Better Things or Fleabag, the irreverent nature of Broad City or the sensation of Casual or Catastrophe.

The Four More Shots Please! Central quartet! It involves Damini Rizvi Roy (Sayani Gupta, from Inside Edge), an award-winning journalist and founder of a research journalism website, which tends to prefer masturbation to sex because of the attachment that comes with the latter; Anjana Menon (Kirti Kulhari, from Pink), a lawyer and unmarried mother who begins the spiral after her ex-husband Varun Khanna (Neil Bhoopalam, 24: India) gets serious with her new girlfriend Kavya Arora (Amrita Puri, from Aisha ); Umang Singh (Bani J, from MTV Roadies), an openly bisexual physical trainer who falls in love with Samara Kapoor (Lisa Ray, of Water), a famous Bollywood celebrity; and Siddhi Patel (Maanvi Gagroo, from Tripling), a virgin and unemployed in her first 20 years, has always been embarrassed by her Sneha mother (Simone Singh, from Kal Ho Naa Ho) and accepts that marriage is a way out of below that's it.

We first encountered the four in present day (last October, to be precise), as the show weaves through their personal and professional lives, with a much larger focus on the old bit. But the scenes from the episode of Four More Shots Please! They provide the feeling that they are configured to present the characters to the public and, therefore, do not feel faithful to their own world. After Anjana mocked for not knowing Maratí by court and losing a lawsuit for defamation, Damini called attention to misogyny and sexism. But if Anjana is a successful practicing lawyer, given his apartment in South Bombay and his lifestyle, surely judges are now known? He also tends to be in the nose, with the name of the program literally said out loud by the characters, or the pilot episode that ends with a song and dance number.

Each episode of Four More Shots Please! begins with a statement that will serve as the ethos for the next half hour, with the first episodes; The critics, including us, have had access to the entire 10-episode season, equipped with flashbacks for a character at the same time, which sketches out their background story. Umang is easily the most powerful of the lot, and Anjana highlights the most ingrained and honest scene of the first season, while the other two are perfect. Siddhi, in particular, has the potential to do much more than the same rhythms that he continues to beat with the lack of maternal love that leads him to his point of rupture. A better spectacle would bring about Sneha's thinking in the way he does, partly due to the ingrained patriarchy of Indian society, but that does not have the vision of seeing that angle, let alone exploit it.

At the same time, some of the best writings Four More Throws Please! Manages during its first season as a result of these flashbacks, with the sixth episode centered in the story of how the four gathered. Through exchanges and cartoons, she encapsulates the diverse problems that women have - including the millennia, including the modern and cosmopolitan Mumbai in India, the adventures of twenty women, and how they have grown, as a result, on this trip. For this group of tequila lovers, it is the transformation of a partially naive girl from a woman without fear, of spilling her innocence through an internal awakening, or realizing the importance of her freedom and recovering her life.

For a concert destined to be a comedy-drama, it fails repeatedly in both aspects. It took two episodes and more than 45 minutes for the first good joke in Four More Shots Please !, where Gagroo mentions the success of John Mayer in 2001 "Your Body Is A Wonderland" as a defense for not contaminating your body with a knowledge of all to which his mother has put her and, immediately, jump to the wings of chicken that stains on the table. And the same type helps to deliver the only absurd moment, after it is opposed to being offered a sanitary towel to stop its indentation in the nerves. In general, the genuinely fun moments are few and far between "Four More Throws" by & # 39;

From the narrative point of view (drama), it is the second half of the show where things begin to go down. There is a generally accepted limit for happy matches in entertainment and Four More Shots Please. He hits a series of chance encounters during a weekend getaway trip to Goa that feels too much Bollywood. It could be completely avoided by simply placing the necessary blocks in an organic way, but the desire of the program to make Goa be a being-everything and the end, in the adolescence dream, is a great break. And that does not help that the episode also lacks mainly in the craftsmanship, with the establishment of shots used beyond those that are necessary to essentially fit a loose script.

Four More Throws Please! It wants to be an easy and frivolous comedy that also tosses its hearts, which explains the approach of the season seasonal hen - after home - after nine episodes of slider behavior. But for those history threads that land with any weight, they should be configured and run convincingly, that they are not. It could be a female show in front of and behind the camera, but that does not prevent him from succumbing to the same problems that affect the entertainment industry. And it also has limited success with female themes, such as falling into the "bisexuals are promiscuous" and spying on "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" elsewhere. Whatever Amazon launches the program is on full screen, but it's definitely just a pretty shell.
