The mobile version of Google.com supports voice search on Android

Google has quietly added the voice search feature to Google.com's mobile web version on Android. It will allow users to search on Google.com using their voice, something that has been surprisingly absent so far. In addition, Google has not yet activated the same for iOS users. According to an online report, support for voice search in the mobile version of Google.com is currently limited to Chrome and Edge browsers on Android. It does not seem to appear on other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, etc.

9to5Google, which was the first to spot the voice search feature on the mobile web version of Google.com, indicates that it is possible to access voice search by pressing the icon of the gray microphone now in the Google search bar. The icon appears on both the homepage of Google.com and on the search results page. By tapping the microphone icon, you open a full-screen interface mentioning Speak Now, which becomes Listen as soon as it detects an audio input. The page also displays a live transcription similar to other voice implementations of Google. It is important to note that the first time you use voice search on the mobile version of Google.com, the browser will ask you for certain system permissions, depending on whether these permissions have already been given. The 9to5Google report indicates that the feature has started deploying users in the past week.

We have independently verified the deployment of voice search on Google.com in Chrome and Edge browsers on Android.

Google already offers several methods for performing a voice search on Android, including via its own Android application and Google Assistant. Anyway, this is another way for Android users to avoid typing and simply search for what they need.

On iOS, where the mobile version of Google.com still does not provide support for voice search, users can use the official Google app, the Google Assistant app or even the support of the voice input built into the Gboard app to perform a search. Voice search.
