Netflix released the first full trailer of The Umbrella Academy, the adaptation of the live action series of Gerard Way and comic by Gabriel Báa with the same name, starring Ellen Page (Inception), singer Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton (Mindhunter ), Tom Hopper (Black Sails), David Castañeda (Sicario: Soldier's Day), Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan (Misfits), Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn), Colm Feore (Thor), Adam Godley (Charlie and The Chocolate Factory), John Magaro (Overlord), Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) and Kate Walsh (Gray's Anatomy). Created by Steve Blackman (Fargo) and written by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), the release date for The Umbrella Academy is on February 15, 2019.
The new trailer for Umbrella Academy begins with the creation of the show's premise: 43 women were randomly shot the same day in 1989, showing zero signs of being pregnant. Seven of them are adopted by a multimillionaire known as Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Feore), who prepares them to save the world. Fracture during their teenage years, the six surviving members: Vanya aka the White Violin (Page), Luther aka Spaceboy (Hopper), Klaus also known as Séance (Sheehan), Allison aka the Rumor (Raver-Lampman), Diego, also known as Kraken Castañeda) and the number Five aka The Boy (Gallagher) - meet after the death of his father to solve a mystery and frustrate an imminent global apocalypse.
"Everything about our family is crazy. It's always been," says a character on the screen in the new trailer, post that we get a foster hargreeves brothers who have survived dancing on a cover of the American pop rock band The Bangles, song of 1987 "Hazy Shade of Winter" by Way, who was the lead vocalist of the rock-and-roll My Chemical Romance when he created The Umbrella Academy in 2007. Way is an executive producer in the Netflix series with Blackman, who also served as showrunner, Jeff F. King, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg and Bá.
The program was produced by Universal Cable Productions, whose parent company - Universal Studios - initially had the comic book to make a movie. But it ended in the development of hell for several years before being announced as a TV series in 2015 for Netflix.
The 10 episodes of The Umbrella Academy are released on February 15, 2019 on Netflix.
