Amazon spends $ 27 million on the last night of Mindy Kaling, Adam Driver's report at Sundance 2019

Since the beginning of the Sundance film festival of 2019 at the end of last week, Amazon has already spent $ 27 million (approximately Rs. 191.98 credits) to acquire distribution rights for two films that were creating a buzz in the event based on Park City, Utah: Evening Night, a comedy written, produced and starring by Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project), which deals with diversity in a room of talk show writers in the evening; and The Report, a political thriller about the use of the CIA of "improved questioning techniques" also known as post-9/11 torture, starring Adam Driver (The Last Jedi) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men).

Of this total of $ 27 million, Amazon spent $ 13 million (about 92.43 crores) to collect US distribution rights for Late Night and the other 14 million (Rs. 99.54 crores) for the overall rights of the Report. Amazon has not set a release date for Late Night, while The Report will report that it will be released during the fall later this year, to go to the traditional Hollywood awards period. Amazon says that both movies will eventually reach their transmission service, Amazon Prime Video, although we will not be hoping to take them soon in India taking into account the state of past efforts.

Unlike Netflix, Amazon first brings its movies to theaters, followed by a release on Prime Video. But its co-distribution of support for most films - the co-producer of Late Night FilmNation will handle deals outside of North America, for example - it means that there is never a scheduled calendar for movies produced by Amazon to surrounding countries like India. The Manchester by the Sea, the Oscar-winning drama of Amazon, was never released in Indian cinemas and it took two years to get streaming - not through Amazon, but in Netflix in a shocking way. The theatrical release of The Big Sick, starring Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), was not treated by Amazon in India, but by MVP Entertainment.

However, in a change of scene, Amazon is dealing with theatrical cast of the upcoming romantic drama of Ritesh Batra, The Lunchbox documentary, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Sacred Games) and Sanya Malhotra (Badhaai Ho), which deals with a " Street photographer (Siddiqui) in Mumbai, who pressured to marry his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger (Malhotra) to run as his fiancé. "He also premiered at Sundance on the weekend and opens on March 8, 2019, at Indian cinemas Gadgets 360 asked Amazon when Photograph was launching in Prime Video, but it did not answer.

The last night of Kaling also starred in Emma Thompson (Love Actually) as a "legendary guest of night shows whose world is spinning when she hires her only female writer. Originally intended to soften the diversity problems, her decision had consequences unexpectedly funny since the two women separated by the culture and the generation are united by their love by a punchline mordaz ". Late Night also stars in John Lithgow (The Crown), Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya), Reid Scott (Veep) and Amy Ryan (The Office).

"Mindy Kaling created the rare movie that is both fun and powerful," said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. "At the moment that the lights came after the premiere, we knew that Late Night is a movie that our viewers will love and talk about. It is an incisive comedy in the workplace that reinvents all women's soldiers. We rarely arrive To see female characters like this: complex, erroneous and disastrously ambitious. And that is a credit for the writing of Kaling, directed by Nisha Ganatra and Emma Thompson, who provides excellent performance with the always incredible Kaling. "

Meanwhile, The Report comes from writer-director Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum) and tells Steven Soderbergh (Ocean trilogy) as a producer. It is "the story of Daniel Jones (conductor), principal investigator of the hard study of the United States Senate in the arrest and interrogation program of the CIA, which was brutal, immoral and ineffective. With the truth at stake, Jones fought tirelessly to make public that many looked for hidden. " The report also stars Annette Bening (American Beauty), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Maura Tierney (ER) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter).
