Android Q can block background access to clipboard in the background for third-party applications and bring the update restore feature to applications

Android Q, the next version of Android that is expected to debut at Google I / O 2019, would come with a feature that will limit access to the clipboard in the background for third-party apps. This will help users protect sensitive information such as usernames and passwords from malicious third-party applications. Some references in a supposedly leaked version of Android Q also indicate an option to cancel application updates. The next version of Android could also re-enable third-party applications so that they have background access to your site. Plus, Android Q would have preinstalled fonts, icon shapes, and accent colors.

According to a report from XDA Developers, it looks like the new version of Android Q leaked, appeared earlier this month, has a new authorization suggesting the ability to prevent third-party apps from reading your clipboard. The permission, named "android.permission.READ_CLIPBOARD_IN_BACKGROUND", apparently allows users to grant applications the ability to read data from the clipboard while running in the background. The protection level of the new authorization found is "signature", which means that only applications signed by the manufacturers can be allowed to access the data from the clipboard in the background.

Mishaal Rahman of XDA Developers also spotted two new permissions for system applications to allow demotion of applications. The permissions, labeled "PACKAGE_ROLLBACK_AGENT" and "MANAGE_ROLLBACKS", will probably allow Google Play to move an app to its previous version. In addition, there are broadcast events, namely "PACKAGE_ENABLE_ROLLBACK" and "PACKAGE_ROLLBACK EXECUTED", that they could essentially intimidate the applications about the cancellation action.

Rahman also mentioned the existence of a new "--enable-rollback" indicator in the version of Android Q disclosed that was included in the "pm" command. This could enable the restore process for end users.

Android Oreo, in 2017, limited access to the background locations for third-party applications. However, Rahman noticed in the Android Q version disclosed that Google was providing background access to third-party applications. New permission allows an application to start accessing the location data in the background. The description of the new authorization, "ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION", warns users that "the application will always have access to the location even when you are not using it".

It was found that the new permission to access the background location could be granted "in addition to the approximate or precise location". However, approximate location authorization can only access your location based on network sources such as mobile towers and Wi-Fi networks when the application is in the foreground, in accordance with available channels in the Android Q framework that fled.

The disclosed Android Q version also contains references around a new list of pre-installed fonts, icons shapes, and accent colors. XDA Developers discovered that there are two preinstalled fonts, namely Arvolato and Rubik; four icon shapes, including Rounded Rectangle, Square, Surrounded, Tear; and three accent colors, including black, green, and purple.

The new Android version also categorizes overlays into three groups. This is similar to the way Android is available on Pixel models, which include three overlay packages, including a notch accessible through Developer Options, the Pixel frame, and a partial dark theme.

Google will host the I / O 2019 developer conference from May 7 to 9 in Mountain View, California, where it is planned to officially preview Android Q. However, given the number of revelations that have appeared on the Web so far, it is safe to wait for a list of new leaks around the next Android platform. The new Android version would already have a system-wide dark mode, a desktop mode and a facial recognition feature similar to that of Apple's facial identity.
